🛠️ Monthly Expense Tracker
How to Use the Monthly Expense Tracker
Taking control of your finances starts with awareness. Use this interactive tracker to log your daily spending and see a real-time breakdown of your monthly habits.
1. Log Your Expenses
Start by entering the details of a recent purchase or bill:
-
Expense Name: Give the item a clear name (e.g., “Whole Foods” or “Electric Bill”).
-
Amount: Enter the total cost in dollars.
-
Category: Use the dropdown menu to select the most relevant bucket, such as Housing, Food, or Entertainment.
2. Build Your List
Click the “Add Expense” button. Your item will appear in the scrollable list below the inputs. You can add as many items as you like throughout the month.
3. Review the Spending Summary
As you add expenses, the tracker automatically generates a Spending Summary. This section provides:
-
Category Totals: A consolidated view of how much you are spending in specific areas.
-
Total Monthly Spend: A bold, real-time total of all your logged expenses combined.
4. Manage Your Items
-
Remove an Item: If you make a mistake, simply click the red “×” next to any expense in the list to delete it.
-
Start Fresh: Use the “Clear All” button at the beginning of a new month or to reset your tracker.
